Woe! Misery! Children’s Theater!
Performance dates May 31st - June 2nd and June 7-9th
Tickets: $35 in advance, $40 at the door
Kismet Performing Artists Theatre is excited to bring their newest production to Clifton. Woe! Misery! Children’s Theater! is a brand new play from award-winning playwright Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend. This play — for grown-ups — is a comedy with a twist, that presents the backstage story of a traveling theatre troupe. The production will see Kismet returning to the Clifton Arts Center for seven performances: May 31, June 1, June 2, June 7, June 8 (two performances), and June 9. The show will be Kismet's second world-premier production and their second joint fundraiser with the Clifton Arts Center.
Woe! Misery! Children’s Theater! is produced by Judi Niebuhr and directed by Kathleen Kellaigh. The play stars Tanvi Jani from Jersey City, Pamela Yachouh from New Milford, and C. W. Robertson from Clifton, all of whom also starred in Kismet’s first production. Brooke Kaye from Wayne is excited to join Kismet PAT, rounding out the cast. Tara Freifeld is stage manager, Devin Sogluizzo is assistant stage manager, set design and build as well as sound are by Kurt Irizarry, and lighting and lighting design are by Maz Sailer.
Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend is an award-winning playwright, a member of the Dramatists Guild, and President of the Board of Arts For All, a New York City-based nonprofit bringing accessible artistic opportunities to children who face barriers to exploring the arts. Her new play Woe! Misery! Children’s Theater! provides a comical backstage glimpse at a traveling theatre troupe as they bring a popular children’s television show to the stage. While the play is set backstage, Kismet’s audience watches as the troupe tries to make it through their first multi-matinee day. The ensuing events tell a tale of the dreams we can’t shake, the souls that we sell, and what it means to be an artist.
Kismet Performing Artists Theatre is a theatre company built and inspired by artists. The company was founded in 2020 — just before the pandemic shut everything down — with the purpose of cultivating a broader appreciation of the world as they produce theatre that entertains, educates, and enriches their audiences.
Tickets are $35 plus fees when purchased in advance at www.kismettheater.org, and $40 plus fees if purchased at the door. All seating is reserved. Learn more at kismettheatre.org or call 973-559-3276.
