About the Founder

Gloria J. Kolodziej

Gloria Kolodziej served 28 1/2 years on the Clifton City Council, including two terms as Mayor.  She served as council liaison for the Arts Center since the planning of the Arts Center began in 1998.  Along with her imagination and perseverance, Gloria was the visionary whose determination led to the opening of the Clifton Arts Center.

The Clifton Arts Center was renamed in her honor by a unanimous vote of the Mayor and Council in May 2010, after her retirement from the City Council.

In 2017, a stained glass window was created in her memory with an unveiling and dedication ceremony at the Arts Center.  This beautiful work was created by Clifton artisans Hiemer & Company Stained Glass Studio and was installed overlooking the atrium of the Arts Center to memorialize Gloria's role after her passing in 2016.

Clifton Arts Center Director, Roxanne Cammilleri has said: “...the arts play an important role in both shaping the character that defines us and reminding us of our shared humanity. I invite everyone to reflect and share the many contributions that Gloria Kolodziej has given to the City of Clifton via arts and humanities.”
